Navin Raheja, Founder, Raheja Developers has appreciated the creation of Gurgaon Arbitration Council(GAC). The council has been set up by T L Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon. The idea behind setting up this council is to reduce the conflicts between the builders and consumers. So GAC has been constituted to act as an ombudsman to sort the conflicts. T L Satyaprakash announced the setting up of GAC at a round table conference hosted by Real Estate Development Council (REDCO), Haryana. The meeting was attended by various builders, administration officials and RWAs.
Satyaprakash appointed retired colonel Prithvi Nath as the chairman of GAC. Colonel Nath is also the Vice President and General Secretary of REDCO, Haryana. The conference saw participation by many developers. The list of those present includes representatives of DLF, Unitech, Supertech, Ashiana, Emaar MGF, Ambience and many more. Also present in the conference were Vikas Gupta, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, Nazneen Bhasin, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon and Navin Raheja, Chairman, National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO).
Builders present in the meeting were of the opinion that most of the builders always practice fair means and never intend to trouble the consumers for any reason whatsoever. However, they did admit that a handful of developers were resorting to immoral practices and in turn were maligning the entire developers’ community. Navin Raheja, Managing Director, Raheja Developers has appreciated the commissioning of Gurgaon Arbitration Council and said that this would expedite the entire procedure of solving a conflict between developers and consumers. After the setting up of GAC, the conflicted cases would be sorted by the GAC and there wouldn’t be any need for such cases to be taken to consumer forums.
